The Textile Research Group was established by a group of researchers having common interests in basic and applied research related to textile science, mechanics, natural dyes, functional finishes and product development. At the moment, there are three research groups under the Center: Technical Textiles, Natural Products and Geometric Model research groups.
The Center is currently located in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Selangor, MALAYSIA. Contact us if you need more details or are interested to collaborate with us in current and future projects.

Textile Natural Products Research Group
SYNOPSIS : A lot of natural resources available in Malaysia that can be converted into textile products are still untouched. The work to promote and do research dealing with natural products which are suitable for textile use are in good progress. Most of the research at present are dealing with natural colorants from plants, rocks (mineral), bacteria and seaweeds.
Geometric Model Research Group
SYNOPSIS : Geometric Model Research Group focuses on the development and application of quantitative methods for solving textile engineering problems. The group attempts to understand, analyze and predict complex textile mechanical and thermal responses by using numerical analysis methods such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Visit the group website here.
Technical Textiles Research Group
SYNOPSIS : The group currently focuses on fundamental and applied research of textile materials in meeting high technical and functional requirements (such as mechanical, durability, impact, thermal, electrical, etc), other than aesthetic purposes. Technical textiles are functional textiles which are used in industrial, automotive, aerospace, military, marine, medical, sports/leisure and construction.
